Cardiac cycle & imaging

How does the heart schematic reflect rhythm and stroke volume?

Its motion follows the current model, with forward stroke volume shown in the schematic.

Overview

The heart schematic follows the modeled rhythm, rate, contractility and flow. Cardiomyopathy and loading changes can alter chamber behavior and contraction. The displayed forward stroke volume is in mL/beat. Active prosthetic valves and Impella are shown in the appropriate viewing plane.

Forward stroke volume is the useful systemic contribution per beat, not necessarily the entire volume displaced by the LV. Regurgitation and support can make those different.

The drawing is an educational schematic, not a diagnostic echocardiogram. Lesion/flow cues and the pacing wire illustrate the selected state rather than replacing clinical imaging.
