Waveforms & measurements

How do room air, nasal oxygen, NIPPV and intubation affect the display?

Choose oxygen support in the pleth panel and adjust the available amount control.

Overview

Click PLETH for the compact ventilator and pressure/flow/volume waveforms. The pleth panel offers Room air, nasal support, NIPPV and intubation settings. Supplemental amount changes the modeled oxygenation response. NIPPV and intubation also show a PEEP slider (0–24 cmH₂O); it changes pressure transmission, filling, forward flow, oxygenation and lung opacity. Its tooltip and the summary table distinguish measured pressure from estimated transmural filling. The same disease/loading state continues to determine how much impairment remains.

Pulmonary congestion follows mean wedge after excluding modeled chest-pressure transmission. A higher LVEDP alone does not create pulmonary edema when mean LA/wedge stays low. Treatments that lower wedge can improve modeled oxygenation; oxygen support does not resolve the underlying hemodynamic problem.

This is not a complete ventilator simulator. It does not model all blood-gas, lung-recruitment, airway or regional oxygen-delivery behavior, and V-A ECMO differential hypoxemia is not predicted in detail.
