Cardiac Tamponade

Elevated, nearly equal filling pressures with a blunted right atrial y descent.

Overview

Select Cardiac Tamponade under Clinical controls → Pericardial disease. The bold italic live label confirms the active selection. These are the preset’s teaching features; combined disease, rate and interventions can change the resulting numbers.

Elevated, nearly equal filling pressures with a blunted right atrial y descent.

The right atrial x descent is preserved; y descent is attenuated.

RA mean, RV end-diastolic and wedge pressures approach one another.

This preset represents significant unsupported tamponade: systolic pressure is capped at 90 mmHg and output at 3 L/min. Preserved BP is possible clinically; that phenotype is not modeled.

The pressure traces include illustrative spontaneous respiratory ventricular interdependence; interpret with clinical context.

Step by step

  1. Reset interventions if you want the untreated example.
  2. Select the condition and inspect the pressure summary and relevant waveforms.
  3. Pause for annotations; add one intervention or loading change to compare the response.
