Overview
The summary shows modeled forward flow plus separate Fick and thermodilution readings. Fick mirrors the oxygen inputs in its panel; thermodilution appears only after a completed injection. The methods include additional assumptions and selected error examples. Vascular resistance calculations continue to use modeled forward flow.
The selected severe-TR example broadens the thermodilution curve and changes its estimated output; mild/moderate TR does not inherit that error. The size and direction of a real measurement discrepancy are not guaranteed by this illustration. Estimated Fick also depends on oxygen-consumption assumptions.
Shunts and ECMO change the flow-accounting problem. Their panels explain when conventional non-shunt output methods no longer apply.
