Overview
Enable Pressure–volume loop in Traces. The live display retains the non-intervention comparison when an intervention is active and draws the treated state in a different color.
On pause, reference/normal, disease and treated loops are labeled where applicable. Follow the legend to identify each loop, then hover or touch the ECG or Wiggers plot to move the current-state point around it.
RV mode uses RV pressure and RV-to-PA flow, with illustrative chamber volumes and TR/PR backflow. It is not a rescaled LV loop. Shunts and extracorporeal bypass can make RV flow differ from systemic flow.
Wiggers and PV use end-expiratory loading by default, so a normal loop stays stable. Pause, then use Respiration to compare end inspiration or mean respiratory loading. The ECG cursor stays synchronized. The main monitor retains its original breathing variation; irregular rhythms and alternating IABP beats are not averaged together.
Default mild and moderate isolated valve lesions keep near-reference ventricular cavity sizes; atrial enlargement is separate. Severe chronic regurgitation can enlarge the affected ventricle. Regurgitant stroke volume and coexisting disease still change the loop. These are illustrative presets, not a rule that moderate clinical disease cannot cause remodeling.
The loop describes pressure and illustrative chamber volume for the selected ventricle. Forward systemic stroke volume can differ from total LV volume displacement with regurgitation, shunts or devices. Continuous support can distort the classic four-sided loop and reduce distinct isovolumic phases.
