Waveforms & measurements

Why do summary numbers become crimson and bolder?

Numbers move gradually from black to crimson and gain weight as abnormality increases.

Overview

Values within their reference range stay black. Increasing departures in either direction, or greater waveform abnormality, shift the number toward crimson and make it bolder. There is no coloured background behind the number. The existing illustrative alert landmarks include mean PA ≥20, mean PCWP ≥20, LVEDP ≥20 mmHg and PVR >2 WU. Definitions, calculations & colour lists all thresholds; Normal reference values shows ESC/ERS 2022 ranges and ACC shock context.

Colour intensity is an illustrative teaching cue, not a guideline-defined severity grade, stand-alone diagnosis or treatment instruction. Mean PA 20 mmHg is an illustrative alert landmark, not a sudden colour switch; the ESC PH definition is >20. A device-augmented peak can trigger an alert even though it has a different physiological meaning from an unassisted arterial peak.

The bold intervention-instability warning is separate: it relates to the modeled response or dangerous interaction, not simply to any crimson number.
