Waveforms & measurements

How do I show overdamping or underdamping?

Clinical controls → Display & ECG → Arterial line response.

Overview

Normal retains the original ART waveform. Overdamped rounds and attenuates the pulse; Underdamped adds resonant overshoot and ringing. Recorded systolic/diastolic pressures change, while time-averaged pressure is usually less affected.

This recording setting affects the systemic ART only. The patient, central Ao, other catheter traces and the hemodynamic summary retain the underlying physiology. It does not trigger treatment-instability warnings.

Pause to see a reference-versus-recorded comparison and an explanation. Hover the distorted ART trace for artifact-specific interpretation. Reset restores Normal. The response model is illustrative; complete blockage and leveling/zero errors are not simulated.
