Waveforms & measurements

Why are pressures rounded, and how precise are the calculations?

Whole-number pressures keep the displays clear; calculations retain decimal precision.

Overview

Pressure tables, waveform readouts, paused inspectors and imaging labels round pressures to the nearest whole number in the displayed unit. Cardiac output and cardiac index retain one decimal place, as does resistance in Wood units. Valve areas and timing retain their own finer precision.

Rounding changes text only. Waveform samples, pressure averages, resistance, Gorlin/Hakki calculations and physiological interactions continue to use the full unrounded model values. Recalculating from the rounded screen numbers can therefore give a slightly different result.

Colour emphasis also uses unrounded values. A displayed 20 mmHg could represent a value just below or above 20; use the reference ranges and physiological context rather than interpreting the rounded label as an exact threshold measurement.

LVEDP / Mean wedge compares end-diastolic LV pressure with the time-averaged wedge/LA proxy. Both retain distinct values in the live hemodynamics cards, compact readout and summary table.
