Waveforms & measurements

Why can PAWP, PADP and LVEDP differ?

They describe different sites and different parts of the pressure cycle.

Overview

PAWP/PCWP is the wedge/LA-pressure proxy, PADP is pulmonary artery diastolic pressure, and LVEDP is left ventricular end-diastolic pressure. They should not be silently treated as the same number.

The platform includes pressure-relationship explanations where these values meaningfully diverge. A large wedge v wave, mitral obstruction, pulmonary vascular disease, timing or measurement context can change how a discrepancy is interpreted.

Read the selected scenario’s explanation and align the wave timing before discussing a transmitral gradient. The main summary is a waveform average; progressive case data may instead be authored end-expiratory references.
